Designing Brand Identity and Packaging for a Chocolate Brand
Role
Brand Designer and Creative Director
Tools
Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom
Duration
Three Weeks
Step 2
Logo Design
Designed the logo and the color palette first. The area where chocolate grows in Karnataka is also famous for wild elephants in the area. They are the true keepers of the forests in dense Karnataka forests.
Naturally, I gravitated towards the elephant Logo mark. The typography was anchored around the roots of India. A bold, maximalist typeface with a vibrant color palette was picked.
Step 1
Research and concept
I knew I wanted to design a chocolate brand inspired by south asian flavors, especially from Bengaluru, Karnataka. So I looked into south asian brands and I also researched a bit into chocolates grown in Karnataka.
Step 3
Packaging layout and iteration
Built a custom die line for the packaging and developed an entire product line. The challenge was organizing a a lot of product and ingredient information along with the nutrition chart, key symbols like the kosher and the bar code.
Step 4
Color application and refinement
Developed three full-color products types. With different flavor profiles that represent the brand’s south asian background. This decision helped to reaching wider audiences and adds to the marketability of the product and the product line.
